Knock knock,

Elul is here

It’s an opportunity to grow,

And not one to fear

Sometimes we wait

For the perfect moment to arrive,

We think that when it comes,

That’s when we’ll thrive

But then Elul comes,

And we let it slip away,

We think the teshuva process

Will work better another day

But the clock is ticking,

The minutes slip by;

We must grab this opportunity,

And not lose our moment to try

Elul is our once-a-year chance
To come closer to Hashem, to reconnect,
To look inside and see who we are;
To improve as we introspect

If the word Elul

Invokes fear in your heart,

Don’t let that make you freeze –

Welcome your fresh, new start

Elul might be known

As a frightening time,

But what you really should fear

I will explain in this rhyme

FOMO should be

The source of your anxiety

During Elul, you should fear

Missing your opportunity

Because during these days,

Change and growth are in the air –

It’s available for the taking,

You can feel it everywhere

If you’re holding onto a grudge,

Now’s when you should let it go –

During this time

When Hashem’s face, to us, He does show

He’s standing right here,

He’s at our side,

No matter how far we’ve strayed,

His embrace is open wide

Don’t let fear overwhelm you –
Embrace this opportunity
To make the changes you need;
Elul is full of possibility

So, grab ahold –

Don’t let the month slip away;

There’s still time to grow,

Change can come your way.
