Challenges are given to us by our loving Father. At times it’s hard to see this, but truly, they are handed to us with love, to help us grow and get closer to Hashem. Going through a hard timecan feel like we are stuck in an obstacle course, unsure which way to turn, but we need to remind ourselves that there’s a light at the end of every tunnel. We might feel angry or scared, but constantly remembering that our challenges come from Someone Who loves us, wants the best for us, and knows what’s best for us, helps us navigate the maze.

When we overcome hardships and break free from whatever we are going through, we can feel tremendous pride in our accomplishment. Even though challenges are real and often can’t be easily fixed, our mindset and our attitude play a big role – not only in overcoming the challenge, but in getting through it. The reality is that we are only given tests that we can pass. If a challenge enters our lives, that means Hashem knows that we have the tools and the ability to overcome it – because He, Who knows best – gave us both the situationand the tools for it.

Freedom on Pesach is a reminder of this exact point. We were in Egypt, living a very difficult life, with many struggles. But we were promised that we would be freed, and sure enough, Hashem took us out in the blink of an eye. The same can happen in our lives – Hashem can change our circumstances just as quickly. We just need to believe.

Imagine getting a wrapped gift from someone who deeply loves and cares about you. You don’t know what’s inside, but you’re sure it’s something good. After all, you got it from someone who loves you. When you open the gift, you see something that you’ve never seen before. You wonder what it is, how to use it and why it was given to you. But then, you stop and remind yourself that the person who gave it to you, loves you and knows you well. Surely, then, this must be a gift that should be enjoyable for you. And surely, it is something you can use and know how to navigate. You might just have to figure it out, but ultimately, it is definitely good.

The same is true for our challenges. Instead of getting stuck in the difficulties, focus on Hashem’s infinite love for us, and know that whatever we are going through is ultimately for our good. Not only will this mindset help you feel hopeful, it will also give you the strength and the ability to get through your hardest times and even grow from them.

Wishing you all an empowered, positive Pesach!
